Turkey Backs Mark Rutte for NATO Secretary General Role
Turkey has thrown its support behind outgoing Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for the position of NATO Secretary General,
Russian President Vladimir Putin arrives on a two-day visit to Turkey. In Ankara, he will meet with Turkish counterpart Recep Erdoğan as well as with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.
The three leaders will discuss regional events, the ongoing war in Syria, and the relations between their countries.
Putin and Erdogan will also launch the construction of Turkey's first nuclear power plant. The Akkuy nuclear power plant in Mersin County is being built together with the Russian company Rosatom and will have four power units with a capacity of 1200 megawatts.
The construction of the facility should end in 2021.
