An Austrian soldier shot a man attacking him in front of the residence of the Iranian ambassador in Vienna.
According to a spokesman for Vienna police late last Tuesday, a 26-year-old Austrian citizen attacked the soldier who was on his own. The 23-year-old Austrian soldier first tried to stop the attack with sour spray.
After an initial unsuccessful attempt the soldier shot four times in the attacker, wounding him fatally. He died at the scene.
The soldier has cuts on his right hand, but the protective vest has prevented more serious injuries. Austrian Intelligence Agency and Anti-Terrorism Agency are investigating the incident.
