The construction of Sofia’s third subway line has started, reported bTV.
Construction works will be entirely underground and no re-routing of traffic will be necessary. The tunnel to be built will be 850 metres long.
After a few months, the construction of the eighth subway station will start as well. It will be located on Vladimit Vazov Blvd.
At the moment, 7 metro stations along the third line are being built. Sofia’s Mayor Yordanka Fandakova announced that construction works are being carried out on time.
The third line of the capital’s subway must be put in operation by the end of 2019. By then, about 45% of public transport in Sofia will be underground.
