Residents and visitors in Sofia will be able to park without payment in the city’s “blue” and “green” zones during the upcoming Easter holidays

In the spring of 2017, the network for bike rental will start operating in Sofia. There will be a total of 400 bikes distributed among 33 stations, announced Deputy Mayor on Transport Evgeni Krusev.
Sofia Municipality intends to connect bicycle lanes in a joint section. A scheme is being developed for the distribution of charging stations for electric cars.
In 2016, partial renovation works have been planned for 900 streets and boulevards, and complete renovation works for another 50, added Krusev.
In 2017, the number of smart traffic lights will increase from 120 to 160, announced the Executive director of the Urban Mobility Centre, Hristian Petrov. The centre has estimated that, in this way, traffic will move faster across the city and drivers will save fuel.
A system is also being developed for the introduction of a single ticket for different types of public transport in Sofia.
