A passenger plane made a hair-raising landing "on its stomach" at Alanya airport in Turkey following a malfunction with its landing gear
Aircraft repair plant Avionams, which was fully privatized between 2008 and 2012, is now again wholly owned by the state, Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has said.
Speaking to reporters during a visit to the southern Bulgarian Graf Ignatievo Air Base, Borisov has noted the BGN 29 M deal will allow helicopters at the Graf Ignatievo Air Base to be repaired in Bulgaria, rather than abroad.
The privatization process for Avionams was completely "devoid of logic", depriving the country of proper repair facilities, Focus News Agency quotes him as saying.
On its website, Avionams is introduced as "ne of Europe’s leading Aircraft repair plants, offering complete range of services for the overhaul and modernization of civil and military Mil Mi-8 and Mi-17 helicopters, Mi-24 helicopters , as well as MIG- and Su- family fighter jets and L-39 trainer jets."
"In addition the plant performs periodic checks and technical maintenance of the aircraft listed above."
In December, Bulgarian lawmakers ratified an agreement between Bulgaria and Poland under which six MiG-29 fighter jets would be repaired in Polish facilities.
