The recently elected head of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP), the biggest opposition party in the country, is to make changes at the top, reshuffling her deputies, news website Dnevnik reports.

At National Council session held on Saturday, Korneliya Ninova, who took over the party earlier in May, put forward the name of Stefan Danailov, a renowned Bulgarian actor, a Deputy chairperson of the BSP.

Other possible names that have been mentioned will include MEP Iliana Iotova and MP Kostadin Paskalev, sources from the party say. A vote by the Executive Bureau, which is the BSP's core leadership, is due later on Saturday.

Ninova says she has committed herself to giving a new direction and energy to a party that over the past years has lost much electorate, with support dwindling by a quarter, to 15-17 percent.
