Bulgaria and Azerbaijan have discussed options for a more intense activity of friendship groups in their respective legislatures.

At a meeting between Parliament Speaker Tsetska Tsacheva and Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Bulgaria Emil Karimov, the former put emphasis on the role of reciprocal visits of MPs in developing interparliamentary ties, according to Azernews.

She is also quoted as praising the role of the two respective heads of state, Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev and his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev, in boosting bilateral cooperation in a number of fields over the past few years.

Parliamentary cooperation between the two countries began in 2011, when friendship groups were established in both legislatures.
