The leader of the opposition nationalist party Ataka, Volen Siderov, proposed Bulgaria to join the Russian-led international coalition against Islamic State (IS).

The draft proposal was tabled on Tuesday and Ataka calls on parliament to review it on Wednesday, daily Dnevnik informs.

According to the parliamentary rules of procedure, the opposition has the right to determine the agenda every first Wednesday of the month.

Siderov explained that the proposal concerns a symbolic participation of Bulgaria as it foresees only the provision of logistic support without deploying military contingents.

According to him, the Bulgarian participation in the Russian-led coalition will be a logical step.

This will also send a serious signal to the EU, which according to Siderov, is blocked in the face of the refugee wave and the situation in Syria.

In his opinion, the Atlantic community has not managed to deal with IS in the past year-year and half.
