Bulgaria’s Supreme Judicial Council (VSS) will make a third attempt to elect a Chair of the Sofia Appellate Court, the third biggest court in the country.
The only candidate is Neli Kutskova, Judge at the Sofia Appellate Court.
In order to be elected Sofia Appellate Court Chair, a candidate needs the support of at least 13 members of the VSS, according to the BGNES news agency.
The previous two attempts to elect a Chair of the court collapsed as the candidates did not obtain the required majority.
The former Chair of the Sofia Appellate Court, Veselin Pengezov, was removed from office in May 2014 after an investigation against him from 2010 was renewed.
Pengezov is being investigated on suspicion of abuse of EU funds.
The prosecuting authority submitted an indictment against him in April 2015.
