Bulgaria's Deprivation Rate Drops but Still Among Highest in EU
According to the latest Eurostat data published today, 6.8% of the European Union's population experienced severe material and social deprivation in 2023
Richard Dawkins, who has largely been deemed to be the most popular atheist in the world, will be a part of the Sofia Science Festival due to take place in Sofia between May 14 and 17.
The announcement was made by the British Council in Bulgaria, the official organizer of the event.
Dawkins is a world renowned ethnologist and evolutionary biologist, and a writer, famous for his books ''The God Delusion" (2006), ''The Selfish Gene'' (1976), ''The Magic of Reality'' (2011). He will be one of the curious lectors at the festival, alongside host of National Geographic's ''Beyond Magic'' DMC and biologist and BBC TV host Simon Watt.
The forum's fifth edition will be taking place in Theater Sofia and is a joint effort with Forum Democrit, under the patronage of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science.
It will consist of over seventy events that will be aimed at drawing a connection between science and culture, as well as outlining the importance of science in everyday life. apart form the lecture program, the event will feature exploratory stations located in Sofia's park Zaimov.
