British comedian Terry Jones will attend this year's Sofia International Film Festival, starting March 5 in Bulgaria's capital Sofia.
Over the course of the past 19 years, the audience of the festival has had the opportunity to get to know better not only the Monty Python movies, but also the creative teams behind the scenes.
Nineteen years ago, Terry Jones attended the festival himself and presented for the very first time his movie The Wind in the Willows.
He will also attend this year's event to personally present the classics Monty Python and the Holy Grail (1975), Life of Brian (1979), Monty Python Live at the Hollywood Bowl (1982), The Meaning of Life (1983), as well as Monty Python Live (Mostly) (2014).
Jones is a world acclaimed British comedian, scriptwriter, actor, film director and author. He is currently teaching Medieval History at Paris- Sorbonne University and the UCLA.
Out of all legendary titles Monty Python and the Holy Grail marked the history of comedy with the directorial debut of Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam in 1975. The plot revolves around a more modern interpretation of the legend of King Аrthur and the Knights of the Round Table, as they embark upon a quest to find the Holy Grail. The incredible story manages to blur the line of truth and story-telling, and is spiced up by typical British humor and sense of parody.
The recording of Monty Python Live (Mostly) is the last live performance of the whole team of the series - Terry Jones, John Cleese, Michael Palin, Eric Idle and Terry Gilliam, be broadcast for the audience. The term mostly in brackets refers to the deceased Graham Chapman, who remains unforgettable in the memories of the Monty Python fans.
In 1987 the whole team behind the show received a Special Award by the British Academy for Television and Film Arts (BAFTA) for their outstanding contribution over the years.
