Bulgaria starts an overhaul of its anti-terrorist legislation, reports the Sega daily.

On Wednesday the government set up a working group which will analyse the existing legislation and to formulate proposals for legislative amendments and administrative and organisational measures.

They will include practical steps for addressing the threats of the terrorist organisation Islamic State (IS) and the eventual involvement of Bulgarian citizens.

According to the newspaper, a working group was already drafting amendments to Bulgaria's Penal Code, criminalising the participation in terrorist organisations. Sources told the media that the penalties will be severe – from 10 to 20 years in prison or a life sentence.
