Radan Kanev, Co-Chair of right-wing formation the Reformist Bloc, has announced he would accept an offer to become Prime Minister as long as he has the support of the party and of his family.
Kanev announced on Facebook that he had had a conversation with the leader of center-right party GERB (Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria) Boyko Borisov on Tuesday morning.
“I stated my opinion that none of the proposals advanced by GERB was the best option for Prime Minister. However, as I share the belief that new elections are the worst-case scenario, I find that all opportunities should be discussed and none should be ruled out in haste,” Kanev said.
He made clear that it was possible for the Reformist Bloc to accept any nomination of GERB for Prime Minister, provided that there was a clear majority and a program.
The GERB party has said it could accept a government headed by Radan Kanev.
At 10 am on Tuesday, representatives of the Reformist Bloc met with President Rosen Plevneliev as part of the ongoing consultations before handing the first government mandate.
The Reformist Bloc is expected to present its ministerial nominees to GERB.
