Five Bulgarian nationals have been arrested in Italy for illegal trafficking in antique coins.

A total of 593 antique coins worth nearly EUR 200 000 were seized in an operation of Bulgaria’s State Agency for National Security (DANS) and Italian police, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio.

The coins date back to different periods.

According to reports of Bulgaria’s National History Museum, the work of DANS has helped bring over 5000 illegally exported antique coins back to Bulgaria from the United States and Italy.
