Nikolay Barekov, leader of populist party Bulgaria without Censorship, has suggested that the first party to receive the mandate to form a government had to be successful in the attempt.

Barekov echoed the stance of Lyutvi Mestan, leader of liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), who said at a press conference late on Sunday that the first party to be handed the mandate to form a government by President Rosen Plevneliev had to succeed in the attempt, or the other scenarios would push Bulgaria into a state of crisis.

The first party to receive the mandate to form a Cabinet is center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), which won most votes in Bulgaria's early parliamentary elections on Sunday.

In his Monday statement, Barekov claimed that no party could count itself a winner in the early elections because Bulgarian voters trusted neither DPS leader Mestan, nor GERB leader Borisov, nor him.

He argued that Bulgaria’s next government was not to be headed by a political leader.

Barekov, as cited by the BGNES news agency, called on politicians to overcome personal bias and subdue their egos so that Bulgaria could make progress.

He said that he was ready to negotiate with the leaders of GERB, DPS, and nationalist party Ataka.

Barekov also informed that he intended to keep an MP seat instead of becoming a minister or Prime Minister.
