Survey: GERB Set to Dominate Next Parliament with 80 Deputies, WCC-DB to Lose More Seats

Three political parties are certain to enter Bulgaria’s next Parliament, including center-right party Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB), the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) and liberal party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (DPS), according to Gallup International.
According to a survey of Gallup International conducted on September 12-18 among 1010 Bulgarians aged 18+, thee other formations, namely populist party Bulgaria without Censorship, right-wing party The Reformist Bloc and the nationalist coalition The Patriotic Front, are also very likely to make it into Parliament after the early elections on October 5.
The Alternative for Bulgarian Revival Movement (ABV) and nationalist party Ataka have a smaller chance of passing the minimum threshold to enter Parliament, according to the survey.
According to the polling agency, GERB is to get 35.9% of the votes, BSP 18.3%, DPS 14.2%, Bulgaria without Censorship 5.8%, The Reformist Bloc 5.6%, the Patriotic Front 4.9%, ABV 3.6%, and Ataka 3.4%.
According to Gallup International, around 3.4 million people are expected to vote in the snap elections on October 5.
70% of the respondents are pessimistic about the development of the country.
54% of those polled believe that the results of the snap elections will not change anything, while 26% expect improvement and 7% expect a deterioration of the current situation.
For the first time after 1996-7, the majority of Bulgarians, 61%, share the belief that Bulgaria is in a state of financial catastrophe, according to Gallup International.
At the same time, only 15% of the respondents trust Bulgaria’s caretaker government, while 70% have no faith in it.
The majority of respondents say that the caretaker government is dependent on center-right party GERB, taking into account that it was appointed by President Rosen Plevneliev.
At the same time, 54% of those polled believe that President Rosen Plevneliev is not acting independently.
