A German Zoo has sent three griffon vultures to Bulgaria, in a push to reintroduce the birds to reintroduce them into one of their natural habitats.

Two female and one male vultures are the nests of a griffon-vulture couple at the Wilhelma Zoo in Stuttgart, as Elena Kmetova, managing a project titled "Return of the Vultures to Bulgaria", said for the private TV channel bTV.

The three birds, which have been temporarily accommodated at a Rescue Center for Wild Animals in Bulgaria's town of Stara Zagora, are to be later set free.

Prior to being released, however, they will have to undergo an adaptation process in Bulgaria's Stara Planina mountain in order to feel at ease with the climate and other birds in the region.

Metal rings around their legs are to help scientists to track their flight and to recognize them if they are among other vultures.
