Movie Fiesta Shows Europe's Best to Sofia Fans

The prizewinners of the most prestigious European film festivals feature on the agenda of movie fiesta Kinomania that started November 8 in Sofia. It opened with Bulgarian-Macedonian co-production "Warming Up Yesterdays' Lunch". Kinomania 2002 boasts a patriotic atmosphere, that last years have rarely seen, offering three other Bulgarian premieres - famous animator Anri Kulev's "Mrs. Dinosaur", Bulgarian top director Teddy Moskov's "Rhapsody in White" and "Emigrants" of Lyudmil Todorov and Ivaylo Hristov. Among foreign films, the return of Dr. Hanibal Leckter, Antony Hopkin's notorious personage, stirs the most of excitement. The first film of the trilogy featuring the most "popular" cannibal in history, "The Red Dagon", is leading this year's weakened column of only eight block-busters. However, European movies compensate for the reduced number of commercial hits. The most intriguing titles in the this category are Roman Polanski's "The Pianist" and "Eight Women" of the French "Almodovar" Francois Ozon.
