Fellini, I'm a Born Liar (Fellini, Sono un gran bugiardo)
Damian Pettigrew / France, UK & Italy
105 minutes
Near-definitive study of the Italian maestro, including never-before-seen on-set footage and interviews. With some of the greatest films of all time to his credit, Fellini's status as a master of international cinema is secure. But the real achievement of Pettigrew's exceptional documentary is to give us a real sense of the man behind the myth, courtesy of an in-depth interview in which Fellini candidly discusses his influences and assesses his achievements, together with contributions from his peers and collaborators (novelist Italo Calvino, actors Terence Stamp and Donald Sutherland, cameraman Giuseppe Rotunno). A beautifully shot, fascinating testament to an astonishing talent.
