Bulgaria’s Education Minister believes the secondary and higher education has lost touch with the realities of the economy.
“We must motivate the cooperation between higher education and the business sector, in order to produce the needed experts. This can also be done through financing more and newer majors in the universities”, Aneliya Klisarova told TV7.
The Education Minister encouraged students to seek internships and jobs related to their university major while they are still studying, in order to prepare for the expectations of the labor market.
“The reform in the education sector must be geared towards teaching students communication skills, entrepreneurship, and decision making”, added Klisarova.
She expressed concerns with recent EU statistics, which show Bulgaria lagging behind the rest of the continent in literacy.
