The European Commission will allocate EUR 5 656 000 through its Refugee Fund for Bulgaria.

The money will be given to Bulgaria for increasing its refugee reception capacity, as well as for providing necessary medical products, reports the Bulgarian National Radio.

The EC's Home Affairs Commissioner Cecilia Malmstrom believes these resources will ease the government's struggle to cope with the increased refugee flow into the country and improve the lives of those in the reception centers.

Last week, the European Union revealed it will provide the Bulgarian State Agency for Refugees (DAB) with EUR 6.9 M for the program period between November – April.

The Bulgarian Red Cross has also received EUR 100 000 humanitarian aid from Slovakia. Another EUR 1 M aid is expected to come from the Czech Republic as well.
