The strong autumn storm St Jude has hit western Russia and the Baltic countries Tuesday, after moving away from northwestern Europe, where the situation is slowly getting back to normal.
While weather in much of northwestern Europe is sunny at most places Tuesday, tens of thousands of households in the UK and Sweden are still without electricity.
Telecommunications and traffic infrastructure has been damaged throughout the affected countries, which also include northern France and Germany, the Netherlands, Denmark, and Norway.
At least 16 people are reported to have been killed by the storm, also dubbed Carmen and Cyclone Christian.
Tuesday the storm has cut electricity to significant parts of Russia's St. Petersburg region, as well as Estonia and Latvia.
The wind there has reached speeds of 115 km/h, whereas the strongest speed for the storm was measured Monday in Denmark - some 195 km/h.
