Code yellow for potentially dangerous weather, due to early October cold spell, has been declared Friday for 7 regions in Bulgaria.

The warning has been issued by the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS.

The code is effective for the regions of Sofia, Sofia City, Pernik, Kyustendil, Vratsa, Vidin and Montana, where in the mornings the mercury will fall to 0C.

Central, southern, southwestern and eastern Bulgaria is under code green.

Friday is set to be cool across the country, with lows in the range of 0-5C, 1C in the capital Sofia, and highs at 9-14C, 16C in southwestern Bulgaria, and 10C in Sofia.

Starting Monday, the weather will warm up again, setting the stage of what is expected to be a warmer and sunny next week.

Code yellow means potentially dangerous weather, where the forecast is not for unusual meteorological events, but requires people to exercise caution.
