The driver of a dark blue Audi which jammed into the Turkish Embassy in Sofia on Vasil Levski Blvd slightly after 1.30 pm on Thursday has been detained.

The driver was taken to the 1st Regional Police Department in Sofia.

The vehicle is being inspected for explosives, according to reports of the Bulgarian National Radio (BNR).

The driver of the Audi A4 with a registration plate from Varna came from a cross street and ran into the building.

Eyewitnesses of the accident told journalists of BNR that the driver had been shouting that he wanted to avenge his brother who had been murdered in Turkey.
