Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan is convinced that a "Coalition of the Willing" can strike Syria without a resolution of the UN Security Council.

His statement was reported Sunday by CNN Turk.

Erdogan has slammed again the United Nations for not going headlong against Syria saying that it was time to take action because the civilian casualties have reached 100 000.

Earlier, he also rebuked Russia and China for blocking the UN Security Council resolution on Syria.

The Aug. 21 chemical weapons attack – the deadliest single incident of the Syrian civil war and the world's worst use of chemical arms since Iraq's Saddam Hussein gassed thousands of Kurds in 1988 – has electrified a reluctant Washington to use force.

Erdogan insists it is time to take a stand for human rights.

Turkey has already declared it would be ready to take part in any international action, even outside the auspices of the United Nations, and has put its armed forces on alert to guard against threats from Syria.

Erdogan said that any international military intervention against Syria should be aimed at bringing an end to the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

The Turkish PM will be in Russia on September 5-6 to participate in the G-20 meeting in Sankt Petersburg and will hold talks to the Presidents of US, Barack Obama, and of Russia, Vladimir Putin.
