Bulgaria: Barroso Congratulates Bulgaria's Newly Sworn-In PM Bulgaria's new Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski. Photo by BGNES

European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso has sent a congratulation letter to Plamen Oresharski, the new Prime Minister of Bulgaria following the vote of the new government by the country’s Parliament:

“On behalf of the European Commission and myself, I have the pleasure to convey to you my warmest congratulations on the occasion of your nomination as Prime Minister of Bulgaria,” Barroso said in his message.

“Your appointment comes at a crucial time for your country and the European Union as a whole. Your government has the opportunity to make a significant impact on the living standards of your citizens by pursuing economic and structural reforms,” he added.

“I wish you every success as Prime Minister and I look forward to meeting with you soon.”
