Tragedy at Turkish Ski Resort: At Least 66 Dead, 51 Injured in Hotel Fire (UPDATED)
A fire at a hotel in the Kartalkaya ski resort in the Bolu district of northwest Turkey has tragically claimed the lives of ten people and left 32 others injured
Bulgarian Order, Law and Justice (RZS) party has requested an annulment of ballots cast in Turkey for Bulgaria's May 12 early general elections over what they claimed were a number of irregularities at polling stations in Bulgaria's neighbor.
Monday RZS leader Yane Yanev stated that he has already talked to Bulgaria's caretaker PM Marin Raykov, who had promised to refer the party's request to the Constitutional Court.
In Bulgaria, the Constitutional Court is the institution that can mandate partial cancellation of election results, but it cannot be addressed by parties or citizens.
Raykov later released a statement saying that he had given no committments to any political parties.
Accoring to RZS functionary Emil Vasilev, election violations in Turkey were "drastic and astounding."
He said that they included people voting multiple times at different polling stations.
"After elections 2009, the Constitutional Court found 18,000 invalid votes. Now we are arguing for 60,000," said Vasilev.
RZS recalled its similar appeal to the Court after Bulgaria's last general elections, which proved successful.
According to Vasilev, if election results from Turkey polling stations are cancelled, this will lead to a re-distribution of seats in parliament away from the Movement for Rights and Freedoms, which is known to be supported by many of ethnic Turkish Bulgarian citizens.
As things stand now, former ruling center-right GERB party has 97 MPs, the Bulgarian Socialist Party - 84, the Movement - 36, and nationalists Ataka - the remaining 23 MPs.
The Order, Law and Justice party, which was represented in Bulgaria's last parliament, scored only 1.67% of the vote this time over, well below the 4% hurdle.
Ivan Portnih, candidate of Bulgaria’s formerly ruling center-right party GERB, has won the battle for mayor of the coastal city of Varna by a slim margin.
Two candidates are vying to be mayor of Bulgaria's third-largest city and summer capital, Varna on the Black Sea coast.
The Sofia City Prosecutor's Office final count of the alleged illegal ballots discovered at a printing house in Kostinbrod hours ahead of the May 12 early elections is 480 000.
The number of apparently illegally printed ballots for Bulgaria's May 12 early general elections has swollen to at least 400,000, according to an announcement by the prosecution.
Bulgaria's formerly-ruling, center-right GERB Party has sent its claim contesting and asking to void the May 12 early general elections results to all European institutions.
Bulgaria's Constitutional Court has decided to try the claim contesting and asking to void the May12 early general elections results.
