The Bulgarian Socialist Party has declared will attempt to win the support of ultranationalist outfit Ataka (Attack) after the general election on Sunday.

The left-wingers are ready to start talks aiming at a “joint governing program” with Ataka, key BSP official Kornelia Ninova said.

Ninova told bTV on Tuesday that the Socialists will try to convince Ataka to let go of some of its more unrealistic promises, including the drastic increase of salaries envisioned by the ultranationalist party.

With 27.06% of ballots, the Socialists are likely to receive 87 of Bulgaria's 240 MP seats.
Ataka, who are the fourth and last party to enter parliament this time over (7.39%), is likely to get 23 MP seats.

Third-ranked liberal Movement for Rights and Freedoms's 10.46% can get it 33 MPs. The predominantly ethnic Turkish party is expected to cooperate with BSP.

The center-right GERB of former PM Boyko Borisov, which again came out first at the vote with 30.74%, is likely to get 97 MPs. However, GERB is unlikely to form a new government, as all other parties in Parliament have declared that they would not support it.
