Bulgaria's center-right GERB party is holding a four-point edge over its left-wing rival ahead of the snap elections in May, according to the latest poll.
The poll conducted by Alpha Research shows that some 21.9% of voters would vote for GERB, while the Bulgarian Socialist Party would be supported by 17.4%.
The far-right populist Ataka (Attack) has registered a considerable increase and now stands at 5.5%, according to the pollsters.
The ethnic Turkish Movement for Rights and Freedoms is likely to enter the next Parliament, as it currently enjoys the support of some 4.8% of responders.
One more party – the Bulgaria for Citizens movement of former European Commissioner Meglena Kuneva – appears likely to overcome the 4% threshold, as it currently stands at 3.9%, according to Alpha Research.
A coalition of two right-wing parties, Democrats for Strong Bulgaria and Blue Unity, may enter the next Parliament if the voter turnout is low.
The pollsters have noted that a total of 28% of all responders have not decided on whether to vote yet, which may lead to substantial surprises.
The Alpha Research poll also reveals that President Rosen Plevneliev is the country's most popular politician.
The deadline for coalitions willing to join the race in Bulgaria's snap general elections in May by submitting documents for registration with the electoral body expires at 5 pm on Monday, April 1.
The center-right government of former PM Boyko Borisov resigned amid massive anti-poverty protests in February, prompting Plevneliev to adjourn the Parliament, appoint a caretaker Cabinet and schedule snap elections for May 12.
