Former Bulgarian Vice-PM and Finance Minister Simeon Djankov has not been nominated yet as ex-ruling party GERB candidate for upcoming early elections, said GERB leading functionary Dimitar Glavchev.
"To the best of my knowledge no one has nominated Simeon Djankov yet," said the former front bench GERB MP at a press event Wednesday.
Glavchev however did not discount the possibility that Djankov gets nominated in the days until the May 12 early general elections.
A leading cabinet member, Djankov appears to have fallen out with GERB leader and former Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov in the events that led to the February cabinet resignation.
Faced with days of street protests against stagnation and corruption, it was Djankov who first filed his resignation February 18, to be followed by Borisov two days after.
Back in late 2012, the former FinMin and World Bank chief economist had stated his resolution to continue working for GERB after the end of the cabinet's term in July 2013.
After the cabinet resignation, Djankov had reiterated his readiness to work for GERB.
However, GERB leader Borisov then released a statement that if the party gets to form a new cabinet following the May vote, Djankov will not be serving as minister.
