Bulgaria's Burgas Municipality has received approval for funding for the first of its kind interactive attraction called "Underground City".
The unique entertainment facility will be located in the underground galleries of the bomb shelter in the Primorski Park (Sea Garden), according to the press office of the municipal administration in the Black Sea city, as cited by dnevnik.bg.
The underground bomb shelter spans an area of 3180 square meters with 12 galleries connected with 17 corridors.
According to the Burgas Municipality, "Underground City" will offer high adrenaline and mystical experiences to its visitors.
Visitors of "Underground City" will be able to enjoy impressive sound, visual, holographic, and mechanical attractions in the dark tunnels of the former bomb shelter.
The first gallery will offer "close encounters" with a scary sea monster, a mermaid, and a variety of other weird creatures.
The second gallery will present the secrets of the seabed from the deck of a sunken ship.
In the halls of "Underground City", the visitors will be able to experience the atmosphere of old Burgas with its unique urban culture, architecture, and remarkable personalities.
A contemporary art gallery, which will host performance and installation art, is also part of the plan.
An "Empty Room" will invite little ones and grown ups to show their talent with clay, watercolors, and paper, while the "Oracle" gallery will be devoted to fortune telling.
The investment project will be financed under the JESSICA initiative (Joint European Support for Sustainable Investment in City Areas) within Operational Program Regional Development 2007 – 2013.
A public discussion on the plans of the municipality for a long-term debt for the project will be held Wednesday.
In order for the implementation of the project to start, it must be approved by the Municipal Council in Burgas.
