The Cabinet will unfreeze the project for construction of the second nuclear power plant in Bulgaria, Belene, over the next weeks, the spokesman of the Foreign Minister Lyubomir Todorov said. According to him, Wednesday's decision of the Parliament about units three and four of the Kozloduy N-plant does not oblige the government to change its new stand. It only says that the units should quit operations after Bulgaria entered the EU, Todorov pointed out. He said that Bulgaria's readiness to close the reactor under special conditions is clearly expressed in Brussels. According to Todorov, there is no misunderstanding with the EC representatives and if they mention the 2006 deadline for the closure without the Bulgaria's conditions, this is due to the early stage of the negotiations. Bulgaria's government recently said it would agree to close the reactors as required by EC if a peer review is conducted in the N-plant.
