EU's Foreign Ministers have declared that the planned missile launch by North Korea would be a "provocative act" in breach of UN resolutions and require an international response.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministers have noted that a rocket launch would directly contravene "the international community's unified call not to conduct such launches."
The EU has reminded that a launch would merit a clear international response, in conjunction with UN Security Council deliberations, including possible restrictive measures.
The bloc has strongly urged North Korea not to conduct the declared launch and to comply fully with its international obligations.
It emerged on Monday that North Korea has extended the launch window for its latest rocket test to December 29.
While North Korean authorities have claimed the rocket will attempt to send a satellite into outer space, the international community has condemned what it believes to be the development of an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) program meant to ferry nuclear warheads.
