The US Democrats will keep control of the Senate as the vote comes to conclusion, CNN projects.
Before the final results, the Democrats have won 48 seats while the Republicans have 42. There are also 2 independent seats.
51 are needed for control of the Senate.
The US Republicans will maintain their majority in the House of Representatives, again according to CNN earlier projections.
Along with the November 6 race for president, all 435 seats in the US House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 Senate seats were contested in Tuesday's election. Analysts generally predicted Republicans will continue to hold their majority in the House, while the Democratic party of the incumbent President would maintain their slim majority in the Senate.
The Republicans had majority in the current House of Representatives with 240 Republicans, 190 Democrats, 0 Independents and 5 vacancies. The Senate was composed of 51 Democrats, 47 Republicans, and 2 independents.
Meanwhile, CNN projected that Incumbent US President, Democrat Barack Obama has been reelected to the US Presidency beating Republican challenger Barack Obama.
