Darina Pavlova, former Bulgarian model, actress and widow of shady tycoon Iliya Pavlov, has made a rare appearance in Bulgaria to attend her father's funeral, local media reports.
86-year-old father Kalcho Kolev passed away at the beginning of the week and the tragic news forced Pavlova, best known now as one of former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's intimate partners, to fly to Bulgaria.
It was a very short trip, for a couple of days only, so that she could attend her father's funeral and meet her dead husband's father. Right after that she flew back to Italy.
This is believed to be Pavlova's second trip to Bulgaria since the murder of her husband in 2003. Iliya Pavlov was murdered in a gangland hit in the murky times after the fall of Communism.
Pavlova has been living in Rome, Italy, for the last three years in a lavish apartment in the heart of the city.
She regularly makes socialite headlines in Italian media over her ties with famous people, her frequent travels between Rome and Milan and appearances at parties and charities, often in the company of Italian Prime Minister, Silvio Berlusconi.
At the end of last month she suddenly decided to confirm rumors about her passionate intimate relationship with former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi.
Speaking to Oggi, the Italian weekly news and gossip magazine, Pavlova said she met Berlusconi eight years ago in Washington, and shortly thereafter their intimate relationship began.
The Bulgarian confessed their first night was unforgettable and amazing.
Darina said their relationship has been built on respect, trust and love, but lately she has felt disappointed because of the people the former prime minister is spending his private time with.
The controversial and rich lady has repeatedly made it clear she has no plans to return to Bulgaria.
