`Macedonia needs and expects further military aid from various countries, including Bulgaria`, Yordan Boshkov, Chairman of the Foreign Policy Committee with the Macedonian parliament, said Thursday after meeting his Bulgarian counterpart Stanimir Ilchev and Parliament`s Deputy Chair Kamelia Kassabova during his one-day visit to Bulgaria. The Balkan trip of the Foreign Minister of Macedonia Ilinka Mitreva is expected to start from Sofia, he added. According to Ilchev Bulgaria would not abstain from direct or indirect involvement in all possible measures and initiatives for solving the crisis in Macedonia but this would happen following certain conditions. Any help Bulgaria is to provide has to be within the country`s capacity and to comply with the the procedure for coordination with the EU, NATO and the US. It has also to be in favor of Macedonia`s and Bulgaria`s state interest. Ilchev also spoke of `a need for a well-measured financial aid` for two of the large infrastructure projects along Corridor 8: the construction of a 400-kV power line and a rail link between Sofia and Skopje. Three new checkpoints on the Bulgarian-Macedonian border will open. Alleviated regime when crossing the boarder will be introduced as well as special terms for Macedonian students in Bulgaria.
