World wrestling champion Elis Guri, an Albanian with a Bulgarian passport, has failed to grab a medal at the London Olympics.

After reaching the London 2012 quarter-finals earlier on Tuesday, Guri lost 0:2 in the 96 kg category to Tsimafey Dzeynichenka of Belarus.

Guri finished in eighth place for Albania in Beijing, but after joining up with Bulgaria he's won bronze at the European championships in 2011 and the world title in Istanbul a year ago.

Guri could have still made it to the semi-finals, had Dzeynichenka won his match against Rustam Totrov of Russia.

Thus, Bulgaria, which is known for its wrestling traditions, has been left without a medal from the London Olympics in Greco-Roman wrestling, after Bulgaria's Alexander Kostadinov, Ivo Angelov, and Hristo Marinov also failed to achieve anything notable in their respective categories.
