Radio Free Europe Bulgaria Closes, Newsroom Launches New Outlet “Svobodna Tochka”
The Bulgarian service of Radio Free Europe has announced the suspension of its operations following budget cuts affecting the wider international media network.

"Journalists who serve the mafia are not journalists. Don't be angry at them. Today is a holiday and we will only say nice things. The polls and the ratings don't matter either; what matters is what people are saying. Criticism does not matter when we constantly bust illegal drugs – 4.2 metric tons just several days ago, now 12.5 tons. These are drugs for hundreds of millions in cash."
Bulgarian Prime Minister, Boyko Borisov, commenting on complaints of Interior Minister, Tsvetan Tsvetanov, that media criticize too much the work of the police.
