Greek hotel owners expect to see a drop in the number of foreign tourists visiting the country during the upcoming summer season.

In some resorts, the fall is to be around 20-30% for May and June, while others are observe a stabilization in the number of bookings for June.

Bookings from traditional markets such as Germany, the UK, the Netherlands and Belgium have decreased, the hotel owners have noted. However, there has been a slight increase in bookings from other Balkan countries, Russia, Ukraine and Israel.

Greece's tattered image abroad, the lack of promotion and the recovery of north African destinations are seen as the chief factors behind lower demand, Ekathimerini says.
