A fire broke out in the canteen of the OMV gasoline station on the main Sofia thoroughfare "Tzarigradsko Shosse."

The Interior Ministry informs that the fire started around 10 am Sunday at the gas station located between the Regional Hospital and the exit for Sofia's "Mladost" district.

The fire rescue team arrived at the scene and have been relieved to find out that the blaze was relatively far from the gasoline pumps. It has been extinguished and there are no reported injuries.

The authorities are probing the incident, but arson has been almost entirely ruled out. The most likely cause is deemed to be a fryer in the station's kitchen.
