Bulgarian bikers are "taking over" the capital Sofia Saturday, March 24th, one day before Annunciation.
The opening and the celebration of the motor biking season is held traditionally during the first day off after the onset of astronomical spring.
Riders began gathering at the square in front of the "St. Alexander Nevski" cathedral as early as 9 am and the party will culminate at the National Museum of History in the suburb of Boyana.
The procession starts at 11am from "St. Al. Nevski" square through "Oborishte" street, boulevard "Vassil Levski," boulevard "Patriarch Evtimiy," "Prof. Fr. Nansen" street, and boulevard "Bulgaria" to the beltway and the History Museum.
The bikers' clubs will be in charge of security. In addition to the rock party, there will be a race in Boyana on a secured stretch of the beltway. The party will conclude at 6 pm. Bikers have pledged to obey the rules, maintain discipline and preserve the safety of the audience.
The Mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, will attend the official opening of the motor biking season.
The initiative is being held for the fifth consecutive time and has the goal to remind all drivers and pedestrians that they are responsible for the most precious – human life and health.
The City Hall announces a number of road closures, parking restrictions, and changes in the routes of public transportation vehicles along the procession's route.
Also on Saturday, the municipality is starting to wash streets and boulevards, and to clean street lightning.
