Greek Prime Minister Lucas Papademos has invited his Macedonian counterpart Nikola Gruevski to meet in March and try to solve the complicated name dispute between the two countries.
Papademos has sent a letter to Gruevski expressing his wish to meet him at the upcoming European Council summit at the beginning of March.
The Greek Prime Minister has recommended to his colleague to work in a constructive manner towards resolving the dispute, according to international media.
Macedonia is registered at international organizations as the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia because of the name dispute, rather than Republic of Macedonia at Greece's insistence, which fears the name "Macedonia" might spur territorial claims for its northern regions.
