Bulgarian surfers have expressed their outrage over a recent anti-drug campaign video produced by the country's Health Ministry, which they feel portrays them as drug addicts.

The surfers have launched a petition expressing their discontent over the suggestions made in the campaign video, the Cross news agency informs.

The campaign video, which is included in a campaign, entitled "Life is priceless! Do not substitute it for drugs," tells the story of a young man who has managed to stay off the drugs for two years before meeting a bunch of "surfer guys" while fishing.

The "surfer guys" in question do nothing besides smoke marijuana – and eventually include the youngster in a "business master plan" that involves selling big amounts of dope (as it turns out, the surfers are also large-scale marijuana producers).

Subsequently, the protagonist ends up in jail, where he sums up the morals of drug using.

According to the protesting surfers, the Health Ministry is making the wrong suggestion that active sportspeople are drug users, while they believe that it should do the opposite by encouraging an active way of life.

They have demanded that the video be immediately stopped, pointing out that other videos included in the campaign also feature the "surfer guys" topic.
