A Bulgarian family has reported it has been brutally and with no sound motivation detained by police, who after that went on to violently break in and search their home.

Malina Nachkova and Petar Nachkov were arrested while parking their car, upon which Petar has been reportedly beaten by the heavily-armed anti-organized crime officers.

Police have denied claims by Malina, who said that they brought her husband to the ground, hitting him and hitting her, and held her at gunpoint, using rude words.

The couple were then brought to their home, where the policemen made a search, only to find five packs of cigarettes with no excise tax band on them.

It turns out that Malina and Petar are the parents of Ralitsa Nachkova, the creator of Facebook group "I Shall Not Vote for Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov and the GERB Party."

"The only reason for our arrest and the overall treatment that I can see is the fact that our daughter is involved in that group, so someone wants to intimidate her politically," commented Malina Nachkova for mediapool.bg.

After the search, the husband and wife were placed under arrest, upon which they contacted lawyer Marin Markovski, who managed to have them released.

According to Markovski, the police has no information of a crime committed by the Nachkovs, and will not file charges against them.

Bulgarian PM Boyko Borisov has reacted, dismissing the connection between the arrest and the Facebook group as completely arbitrary.
