The Bulgarian Member of the European Parliament, elected on the ballot of the far-right, nationalist Ataka party, Dimitar Stoyanov, became Wednesday the proud father of a baby girl.

The MEP, himself, announced the news for the media.

Stoyanov's first child is named Kapka, after his mother. Stoyanov married long-time girlfriend, Mariela Peneva, in July, 2011. He first introduced Mariela publically in a TV program in March last year.

At the beginning of November, Ataka was gripped by a scandal after party leader, Volen Siderov, was asked to step down by MEP Dimitar Stoyanov.

Stoyanov, who happens to be Siderov's stepson, explained his demand with the crushing defeat Ataka suffered at the end-October elections.

The MEP is a natural son to Siderov's wife Kapka Siderova, also e key person in the party. The couple split recently, and, allegedly, Ataka's leader now lives with Ataka MP, Denitsa Gadzheva, who is much younger than Kapka. Gadzheva went to the same high school as Stoyanov, and numerous reports also link the two romantically in the past.

Stoyanov was subsequently removed from the party on the grounds of "tarnishing" and "undermining" Ataka's image with his media statements.

The MEP is also the grandson of dissident and prominent Bulgaria writer during the times of the Communist regime, Radoy Ralin, and natural son to Ralin's son Kim Stoyanov.

Several days later, Siderov told the TV channel TV7 he was ready to forgive Stoyanov, if the latter would admit he was wrong in opposing him.

In 2011, a total of 11 MPs left the parliamentary group of Ataka, leaving it with the bare minimum of 10 members. Most of them left in the aftermath of the scandal with the family.
