The Police arrested the pair separately in the central German towns of Marburg and Baligen last Tuesday, Der Spiegel reports.

The Russian couple has only been identified as Heidrun A. and Andreas A. German authorities believe the two have worked for Russia's intelligence agency since 1988.

The two Russians were allegedly arrested following a tip from the FBI who had uncovered a ring of Russian spies in the U.S. last year.
