Inside Bulgaria's Easter Celebrations: Traditions Passed Through Generations
Today marks the joyous celebration of Easter, one of the most significant holidays in the Orthodox Christian calendar.
The month of September will be warmer than average in Bulgaria, according to the forecast of the Institute for Meteorology and Hydrology at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, BAS.
The average monthly temperature will be between 18 and 21 degrees Celsius for low elevations, between 15 and 17 for higher plains and between 9 and 15 in the mountains.
The summer weather is to continue at least until September 9th, giving an opportunity for more people to enjoy a beach vacation.
In the first days of September, the lowest temperatures will not fall below 18 degrees with the average being above 25, even reaching 32-37 degrees in low elevations in certain regions between September 5 and 7.
The warmer than usual weather is attributed to warm air masses from Africa which will remain over Southern and Eastern Europe.
The sea water will keep temperatures comfortable for swimming – between 24 and 26 degrees.
Atlantic masses after September 10 will begin pushing the warm air away from the region, reminding of the arrival of the fall. Rain and lower temperatures are in the forecast around September 13.
The last third of the month will come with higher chance of precipitations and a significant fall of the mercury – the maximum temperatures will not exceed 23 degrees.
