Libya's dictator Muammar Gaddafi, whose regime is struggling for survival against a popular rebellion, is in a hospital outside of his compound, according to unconfirmed reports.

Gaddafi is said to be in a hospital in Tajoura, a suburb east of Tripoli, according to reports by the Al-Arabiya TV and London-based site Elaph.

Libyan dictator's whereabouts remain unknown, according to the formal statements of the rebels' Transitional National Council.

However, there have been a number of reforms in the recent hours that say that Gaddafi is outside of his compound in Bab al-Aziziya, which is still in the hands of the loyalists but is under heavy attacks by the rebels.

Meanwhile, Libyan rebel TV based in Doha has reported that pro-Gaddafi forces were "indiscriminately shelling" neighboring areas of Tripoli from the Bab al-Azizya compound
