An undated profile image from social networking site Facebook made available 23 July 2011 showing Anders Behring Breivik
Anders Behring Breivik has undergone plastic surgery several times, according to a childhood friend of his.
Breivik had a nose, forehead and chin job in the US several years ago, the friend told the Norwegian Dagbladet daily.
According to friends of the terrorist, he started taking steroids in his adolescence, which he has also admitted in his manifesto. Breivik is obsessed with his looks, as well as with money and clothes, the manifesto also says.
Friends of the mass killer have described him as pedantic. Some say that he used to claim he was very successful with women, but have never seen him with one.
Breivik himself has confessed in his manifesto that he considers himself too feminine, which he has blamed on having been raised without a father.
According to Svenn Torgersen, a Norwegian expert in clinical psychology, the mass murderer has an "extremely narcissistic" personality.
Behring Breivik, 32, is being held in connection with the bombing in Oslo's government district on Friday that killed at least 8 people and shootings that left at least 68 dead at a youth camp on nearby Utoya island the same day.
