Bulgaria: Gaddafi Enjoys Game of Chess as Fighting Gets Closer

Libya's embattled strongman Muammar Gaddafi has been shown on television playing chess with Kirsan Ilyumzhinov, the Russian president of the international chess federation.

Colonel Gaddafi reportedly told Kirsan Ilyumzhinov that he had no intention of leaving his country, according to Euronews.

According to Ilyumzhinov, he came to Libya at the invitation of Gaddafi's son, who leads the Olympic Committee of Libya.

Meanwhile, fighting between Gaddafi's forces and rebels reached the capital Tripoli's doorstep.

Al Arabiya reports that the United Arab Emirates had recognised the Libyan rebel council as the sole legitimate representative of the Libyan people.
